Project Summary

I had a new jarrah deck put in at our beach house in November of 2010 (see the before photo). The natural wood looked beautiful and was originally given two coats of decking oil by the builders. However, over the next six months or so, the exposure to sun, rain and sea water spray caused the wood to start to look quite old and worn. I decided the deck needed re-oiling as soon as possible in November 2011.
I chose Cabot's Natural Decking Oil and bought four litres of it at the local hardware store and my wife and I spent three very energetic hours carefully applying the oil. We ended up with one sore back (mine) and one very sore knee (hers). But it was all worth it - the deck looked lovely when we had finished (see after photos).
The only concern is that we are going to have to do it all again next year!

Cheers,
Steve Petito
