Is it time to prime?

Using a primer is crucial to achieving a long lasting, smooth finish to your upcycling paint project.

Before we start priming our projects, they must be appropriately prepared first. This includes sanding back any residual coating and smoothing out the surface. Typically, 120 or 240 grit sandpaper is a good choice for most projects but ask us what the best sandpaper would be for your project.

Once the surface has been sanded, you need to thoroughly clean the surface down to remove any dust particles, grime, or grease. Depending on the surface type, you can do this with sugar soap or with a 4-knot duster brush. Make sure your item is completely clean and dry before applying your primer.
