How To Makeover A Bedroom With Paint

Stuck trying to figure out how to makeover your bedroom? You are not alone. Creating a calming space that is also warm and inviting seems like a daunting task. However, with the right colour choice, some interior design flair and the DIY spirit, you can create a space that you will love. Here’s how we made over this bedroom with paint:

Step 1:

First, we needed to fill in some holes in the walls around the room. For this, we used Selleys Spakfilla Rapid. The room also had some gaps in the half wall panelling that needed caulking. We used Maverick Gap Sealent for this.

Step 2:

We taped off the skirting boards and ceiling trim around the room, as well as the trim around the window with masking tape.

Step 3:

Now it was time to prime. The builder who installed the panelling used a metal trim along the top to finish this off. This meant we needed a metal primer. We applied 1 coat of Dulux Precision All Metal Primer to the trim and allowed it to dry fully. We then applied 1 coat of Dulux 1Step Prep to the panelling and allowed it to dry completely. Don’t forget you need to prime your pre-primed timber.

Step 4:

Once the primer was dry, it was time to paint our first topcoat on the panelling and the trim. We used Dulux Wash & Wear in Dulux Antique. We chose this earthy green colour to give the room some depth and to make it feel like a nice, calm space. We allowed this first coat to dry before applying another

Step 5:

To enhance the depth, we implemented a feature wall in Dulux Antique. We applied 2 coats to the wall, allowing to dry between each coat.

Step 6:

Finally, the existing white walls needed some fresh paint. We used Dulux Wash & Wear in Dulux Snowy Mountain Quarter. We applied 2 coats, allowing to dry completely between each coat.
